Today I was at a fleamarket, and lucky me I stumbled across an antique Tulwar! When I heard the price (35 euros = cheap as free), I naturally snagged it. It's quite corroded, and lost quite a bit of steel at the tip end. The blade is quite light, much lighter. It's still quite springy, so it seems it's a well hardened steel. I don't notice any patterns in the steel, so I don't expect it to have been damast. The total length is 88cm, and the remaining weight is 760gram. It's got a clear distal taper and a double fuller. It also has a yelman, though the edges here have a lot of damage due to corrosion.
Cool find Jeroen! Is the sword as black as it looks in the pictures?
I've heard that tulwars with yelman are quite rare, so that would make it especially interesting.

Yeah, it's got a dark patina allover.

I've seen quite a few of them (my other one has a yelman as well), so I don't think they're really rare. But I do like them more then tulwars without a yelman.
