You know. I was thinking of buying one of these blades. Then adding a black canvas micarta handle with a stainless steel tsuba...I know not a tradional blade..but a strong one.

just thought i would clear something up, the plain kris blade is differentialy tempered along the whole blade, they advertise that you could possibly get only 2/3 because there is a *possibility* that is all you would get. since they are still fairly irregular between each blade. also, if you have an unhardened section on the blade, it could be a weak point if you don't have good form. i myself am buying the bingo bare blade, but i am probably just going to go with a straight higo theme, like the cicada, but i want a lighter blade.

Well, before the recent update most of KCs stuff was 2/3 hardend and has done perfectly fine. Unless you smack that last third very hard against something hard its not a problem.
I believe all of the old KC kats are like this and thats never been a weak spot.

I'm back!
Just chatted with Cecil from K.C. and he's told me that the only difference between the $125 reg. blade and the $225 B.M. blade is the Bo-hi, yokote and better polish (removing 95% of "grind" lines).
As far as steel and construction are concerned, they're the same!
So if you don't want a Bo-hi and you can polish a sword then you can@save $100.
If your just lazy (like me) you'll be buying the Bingo me thinks!
Ta guys!

Hey, if you need or want any 3000 grit wet/dry let me know. I can mail you a few sheets if you need. Post the pictures when you are finished with it.
I wonder if Cicle would make a Bingo blade with a longer tang? Maybe 10-11 inches...Would be great if he would do it with a 12 inch tang. Then I could make a nice tactical katana out of it.

just did some acid etching with ferric cloride on this thing and it appears there is some of that fabled alloy bonding lines.......there is actually some interesting activity in this blade.........i could probably sand it out, but it looks quiet nice

Hey David, nice to see your working on the Bingo again.
May I ask for a picture?, please, one which includes the kissaki again, I'de also love to see any of those alloy bonding lines you might have.
One question, did you polish the blade completely before your etch, or did you just go over the finish with some high grit paper?. Just wondering because I quickly sanded my bare 29" KC with some 800grit, then etched it and I think I see some bonding lines in the hamon, little white streaks, I wonder what will come from them when i do a proper sanding
Anyway you should be happy to know you got probably one from the last batch of clay Bingo's, [lucky guy] they aren't done with clay anymore, Cecil says the hamon is much more visable now though. But I'm sure I might try for alloy lines anyway when i get a Bingo for christmas
Good luck with your tsuka

well when i bought the blade some time back, it was the last he had and Cecil made a note of telling me that the hamon was not very visible, i guess this is the clay batch huh?
no i didnt do a full out polishing on it, it was well polished already i just went over it with some 2000 grit.
i did the same thing on my standard KC and its alot less mirrored.
