4W & WMA in USA Today - 03-11-2008, 11:10 AM

I am pleased to announce that this Wednesday, March 12th, an article about 4W and WMA will appear on the front of the Life section of USA Today. We have also had word USA Today will also post some video of the event on their website. The reporter who attended the event was observant and very interested in covering the subject of WMA. She interviewed a good number of you while she was visiting on Friday and appeared to have really enjoyed her time at 4W. In her last email to me she mentioned the article will have a number of color photos and this made her very excited. I feel the article has lots of promise to portray WMA in a very positive light. I am glad to see our community maturing and how this reflects a positive image to others outside of our community’s borders.

in words,

That is a major accomplishment. Hopefully the article will appear online so we can all see it.

Congratulations Cecil. Good work! I am convinced that this type of outreach is terribly important for the WMA community. Isolation brings stagnation and won't help us bring this art to life. Many thanks!

Excellent!

A clean, thorough and honest depiction of WMA from a newspaper, and they let her print it without goofy denigrative jokes.

Oh, and way to go Christian! You're a natural in front of the cameras. When I showed this to coworkers, I was proud to say "Look! There's my teacher! He's in the news!".

Nice article indeed. Thanks for posting

Just makes me long even more, for a WMA event like this to happen within a financially, feesible distance for me to attend.

Very true. All the speakers in the video clip were very articulate, which was very nice. I have always been impressed with Mr. Tobler's communication skills via his writing, which is a model for clarity, but actually hearing and seeing him speak with the same clear style was very enjoyable. And not to sound flippant, he has an impeccable fashion sense, which makes the Art visually appealing to the casual observer. I believe this is important, since I have personal experience of such in my musical career... people hear with their eyes. If you don't look good, you don't sound good to many people who happen to be watching you. How much more so in martial arts, where visual perception is so important!

Best regards,

-Mark

Agreed with all - really well done by all. I thought the reporter did a great job of getting her facts straight and sounding knowledgeable about the material, as well, which often is NOT the case.

This is certainly one of the highest-profile treatments the North American WMA community has had, so I'm glad to see it went so well.

Congrats to all!

Greg
