Howard Clark Katana (pics) - 12-25-2002, 01:25 PM

Merry Christmas all

Its Christmas day and the sun is out so I took advantage of it I finally got some decent shots of the Howard Clark San Mai Katana I just finished. I'm still kind of rushed taking the pictures coz I had to go by my apartments pool and I don't want any of my neighbors freaking out and calling the cops on me

The sword is for a friend of mine and its one beautiful piece. As always, congrats to Howard on his fine work! The fittings are made by Patrick Hastings (sorry I forgot to take some shots of it). The tsuba is the wrought iron 3 comma design from Daryl Meier. Patrick had to make a fuchi/kashira to compliment the tsuba. Robert Mullin mounted it but I didn't take a picture of the saya coz my friend wanted to lacquer it himself. As usual the sword is very difficult to photograph and I really had a hard time trying to capture all its activities. There's just too much going on and doesn't matter how hard I try, the pictures still doesn’t do the sword justice. Anyway, without further a due:

Here's a close up shot. Notice the discoloration between the 2 steels. This shows how clean Howard's welds are. Really cool stuff!

More pics on my Finished Projects page.

Hope y'all are having a Wonderfull Christmas
